In the 37th Game of Indian Premier League (IPL Season 5) 2012, Home team Chennai Super Kings played at their home Ground MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai with Kings XI Punjab. David Hussey Captain of Kings XI Punjab won the Toss and Elected to Bat First and set target for Chennai Super Kings to achieved.

Mandeep Singh started Punjab's inning with Se Marsh very aggrasively. Both Openers gave Quick start to Kings XI Punjab. Mandeep Singh and Marsh added 68 Runs in 8 overs. Unfortunately Marsh got run out in 9th over by Ashwin. He contributed 32 Runs in 22 Balls. Azhar Mahmood (18 of 12 balls) and Da Miller (19 of 15 balls) also started well. but could not carried on their inning for long and lost thrie wickets early. Mandeep Singh completed his half century (50 runs) in 44 balls but, other KXIP lower order batsmans could not faced Morkel well and lost their wickets in regular interwals. At the 20 overs Kings XI Punjab managed put total of 156 Runs on board to achieved for Chennai Super Kings.

Following target of 156 Runs, F du Plessis and S Badrinath open Chennai's inning confidently. Both played very useful and quick innings upto 5 overs. But, Azhar Mahmood sent both of them into pavellion with superb bowling. Suresh Raina (15) and Ravindra JAdeja (17) also started well but, Puyush Chawla succeed to sent both into pavellion. Skipper MS Dhoni unfortunately run out scoring just 1 run. DJ Bravo played brave inning and contributed 30 runs of 21 balls but, could not carried on his inning for long and Chennai Super King lost the match at the end of 20 overs. CSK managed to score 149 runs on board. Finally, Kings XI Punjab registered needed vistory by 7 Runs over Chennai Super Kings and raised their points in Points Table of IPL5. Mandeep Singh (Kings XI Punjab) declared man of the match for his fantastic inning of 56 runs.
